Love, Love, Love

It has been a beautiful week with sunny days and cool nights. I asked the kids what they wanted to do for dinner and Peter came up with a picnic at Farmer's Park. That's exactly what we did.

Mama's Day

This year we took some time to go hiking at Great River Bluff State Park with the kids and then went with a lunch to a new park - to us- in Homer. Peter especially loved the hiking and kept asking if we could go sliding all of the way down the bluff into the river. He also loved looking down on the river valley and seeing the barges and trains running on the tracks. He said it looked just like a model railroad.

Lainey had the best time at the park playing. There was a small slide that she must have gone up and down 20 times on her own, usually head first.

After dinner, we took a bike ride around town, went to see how high the river was and Peter rode in and out of the water for a while and then we came home and made brownies before bed time.

Hoot Hoot

We have officially been "into" owls for over a year now. Last year we were all sick the weekend of the Owl Festival in Houston but this year we have been planning on going for months!! Grandpa Dan came as well. We went to an owl talk where they had owls to show the crowd, one owl flew around and ATE A MOUSE- that was Peter's favorite part of the whole day. He was literally too excited to sit during the entire show. There was also an owl hooting contest for the kids that Peter participated in!

 Afterwards, we came home, played trains, went sledding and ?? The day just flew by!!

 As you can see the kids have the best time sledding!!! We are supposed to get MORE snow this week so all of my talk that "this might be the last time..." might be for nothing!

Emi is Sweet

I wanted to learn to use iMovie so I spent a few days following Emi around getting these sweet shots of her. After I put them together and was watching her play, giggle and talk I had tears in my eyes. My little girl is getting to be so big! I know I haven't taken nearly enough videos of the kids as they have been growing out of these sweetest little stages of their lives, but I do treasure the ones that I have. I have some learning to do with the program, but I have a few cute specimen to use for practice!

Emelia's First Year

I knew I wanted to do something different for Emi's first year but kept pretty quiet about it since I wasn't sure if I would be able to finish it out. I took her picture almost every day for a year usually at night before bed. I tried to keep it to one picture each time and just took what I got with each shot, it is so fun to watch her little personality develop and to see her grow. "The more I'm me, the more you're you..." sums up how I want to raise my kids- I want to be myself and encourage them to grow and become themselves. Love this sweet girl!

This has been a video overload this week, but once I get on a roll...
Peter has been all about his bike for the last 8 months- he especially loves going to Holzingers and biking over the logs and down the hills! This was from last fall when he was two and a half.

Will someone please take this kid to Disney World?

The first time I took Pete swimming at the beach this summer he didn't want to go in the water and I was devestated... my kid didn't want to swim? He was scared of the water? He didn't LIKE the water... well, needless to say he warmed up to the idea- and the water probably warmed up too! Emelia also loves to sit and splash in the shallow water or in her float and push her self around! What little fishes I have!
