Week at Gramma and Grappa's

We spent a long weekend at gramma and grappa's while Garrick sanded the LAST room's floor in our house! Yes-- that is true- our entire house now has beautiful honey colored floors that at one point were scuff free. Not that that lasts long with a dog and two kids.
Anyhow, we went to WI for a long weekend and played outside, Pete got to try ice skating and Emi wandered on the ice. The day that we went it was really cold so we didn't stay too long. At the end, Emelia decided it was TOO cold and took off on her own across the field to go home! By the time dad got his skates off she was 2/3 of the way to the road.

Pete did a great job of skating and seemed to get the hang of it- not falling every other step.
A lot of the time was spent working on projects that they came up with, painting them and of course- playing trains!

Tubing!

We have been having really warm weather and rain is forcasted for later in the week. Pair that up with the fact that Pete has been getting a little stir crazy... time for some sledding fun! We thought it would fun fun to try out the tube instead of the pink plastic sled this time. I don't know which he liked better, but I think I would rather tube! Pete would have gone every single trip up and down the hill and by the end was towing the tube up on his own. (YAY!)
I think my favorite run of the day was when Emi and Peter went down together on their own! They really flew down the hill, but there is a nice burm at the bottom so they couldn't fly away.
And notice Emi's giraffe snow suit. It is fleece so not super warm but it still has hand covers that work for her and she can move around in it!

Christmas In Review

As usual we traveled a lot, had loads of fun, and took about 5 pictures... Here's what I got and some fun stories to go along with it!

We first went to the cities to the Holey family Christmas. We spent time out in the woods climbing over and under trees, looking for (what else??) owls, and dragging sleds around.
I somehow bribed the kids into one good picture. (Emelia looks like she is 4 in this picture!)
The kids spent some time with their elders enjoying cheese and cider. Garrick has two great-grandmas and I parked the kids over by the little table for snacks and who should join them but the two ladies! What a sweet moment.

We came home for Christmas... Opened gifts and my mom and dad came to spend the day. We went sledding, played trains and Emi got to play with her new kitchen with Gaga Vivi for hours. She was in HEAVEN! (I think they both were actually!)

The boys also got to open a "special" gift as well.... I think this is an image that will make all of us smile for years to come. Wednesday came and Pete woke up sick. Bless my mom and dad's hearts- they spent the day helping with sick kids, washing floors and bedding and surviving with me.
We wrapped up our busy busy week with a trip back to my parent's house. Matt and Lara and the kids came up as well and we spent the day outside burying Grandpa and Matt in the snow, sledding, playing the piano, trains and even had a little arts and crafts hour!!

Merry Christmas! We are really blessed to have the family that we have!
