Love, Love, Love

It has been a beautiful week with sunny days and cool nights. I asked the kids what they wanted to do for dinner and Peter came up with a picnic at Farmer's Park. That's exactly what we did.

Three is Company...

It seems like lately... all of the kids want to be together and doing the same thing- At least Emi and Pete are playing together and Lainey needs to be in the middle of what they are doing. Emi and Peter have been spending a lot of time playing trains, magna-tiles, camping and exploring out in the snow together.

I have even started to save time by plunking all of the kid in the tub together. It doesn't last long but they have fun in there!!

Como Park Day

We love going to the zoo throughout the fall and winter. In the summer and spring, it is so crowded that it is pretty much impassable- in the winter- no one is there and you have front row seats for all of the animals. Since it is cooler, many of the animals are more active as well. After we went to the zoo, I asked both of the big kids what their favorite part of the trip was. They both said, at different times, that sitting on the metal turtle, all together, was their favorite part. I'm glad that they enjoy eachother's company... but we saw and heard a lot of animals that day!

Swinging Bridge

We had a beautiful day with too much to do, so we got out of the house and went to check out a place we'd never been to before- the swinging bridge in Galesville. I haven't spent much time in Galesville- just have driven through to a yarn shop that we like to visit on occasion. We weren't sure where to go, but found the park that I remembered that it was attached to and started to walk-

The "cave" we found along the way- Emi told me she saw "scary eyes" in it...

We finally found the bridge!  It was much longer than I had anticipated and the kids were much more excited than I had thought as well!

Unpovoked love for the baby... Guess we know who everyone's FAVORITE is??

My little hiking buddy
We also stopped at the apple orchard on the way home. They have a big green tractor out front that Pete usually comments on- so I said we could try and get a ride today. Of course the tractor wasn't there, but we walked back into the orchard to see if we could find it and just hitch a ride back. I was just about to say- I don't see it-- too bad-- when Pete piped up- I SEE IT! I see the roof of the tractor. Sure enough, just over the knoll you could see the flat green roof of the tractor against the green grass. We hustled up there and found an empty row and got a jostling ride back to our car.

New Best Friends

Peter and Emelia have decided they are best friends this week- they have been playing together a lot, riding bikes together and even sleeping in the same bed snuggled up. He is still impatient wtih her asking the same question 6 times in a row and she is still snatching things from him- but he has really grown up and is being a great big brother to her!

Easter

We went to church as a family and each of the kids were as good as could be. We are one of the only young families at the early service so any noises belong to our family! All of the people there always tell us they love hearing the kids and to not worry-- but we still want them to be good! We stopped and got treats at the grocery store afterwards and then played inside- it rained on and off and was cold and windy. While the kids napped, I hid eggs outside (after the SNOW stopped) and we went out for a little egg hunt. Both kids were SO GOOD at it this year. Peter was  a lot faster than Emelia, but he would find eggs and show her where they were or put a few extras in her basket.

Our yard has about an inch of standing water in it- the kids wear their boots whenever they go out.

Here is Lainey in her Easter outfit that Robyn passed onto us. How many people have a newborn baby girl the week of Easter? She did last year and now us... She was so cute in it!

Happy Easter!!

Tubing!

We have been having really warm weather and rain is forcasted for later in the week. Pair that up with the fact that Pete has been getting a little stir crazy... time for some sledding fun! We thought it would fun fun to try out the tube instead of the pink plastic sled this time. I don't know which he liked better, but I think I would rather tube! Pete would have gone every single trip up and down the hill and by the end was towing the tube up on his own. (YAY!)
I think my favorite run of the day was when Emi and Peter went down together on their own! They really flew down the hill, but there is a nice burm at the bottom so they couldn't fly away.
And notice Emi's giraffe snow suit. It is fleece so not super warm but it still has hand covers that work for her and she can move around in it!

Our princess Winona

She loves walking around the fountain and if you ask her to hold your hand then she tells you NO.
The problem with that is that Peter can do a lap for every 1/3 of a lap that she does. So he bashes into her each time he passes her and after 3 or 4 times we have to go home.

Ready for summertime

We are getting closer and closer to summer which means we are busier than ever with life- both mine at school and also playing and working outside!

reading at the library
We have been able to take a lot of walking trips and biking trips around town-  Emelia is able to go 8 or 9 blocks now before she gives up- we all just have to have a little patience though! It is not a very fast trip. Pete is able to ride his trike that far as well if I can convince him to leave his skuut bike at home. He is much slower on it so it is a good match for them to cruise together with.

Emelia loves to get pushed around in strollers, big trucks and to get rides on this blue hippo. She is really wedged in there- if she were much bigger she wouldn't fit so I think she is pretty safe in there.
I was pushing her the other day and Pete decided that he would help out for a bit. They probably made 10 trips back and forth before Emi had had enough. I think Peter would have shoved her all day. Cooperative play at its best!

I want a chicken on my wheelbarrow!

Garrick was cleaning out the chicken coop this weekend and we were in the yard playing he always lets them run around while he is cleaning. So, the kids were chasing them and Peter decided that he wanted to give one a ride in his wheelbarrow.  Emi and Pete and I tried our best to catch one but weren't successful, but did have a lot of fun trying!! Finally, once he was done mucking... Garrick did get one. And I guess this is why they say a picture is worth 1000 words!

Fortunately, Emelia was there to act as a stand-in!
