Pete Skis!!!

took Pete skiing for the first time last weekend. We weren't sure at all what he was going to think of it but we thought that anything that didn't involve crying and screaming would qualify as a win and were ready to do it once and call it quits until he is a little bigger.  What we got was a lot of laughs, "cool dude"s and more?s. Cascade has a "magic carpet" that is a conveyor belt that you can ride up to the top of the tinyest hill ever and then cruise. We did this about 10 times in a blizzard. Now when he sees skis on our porch, on his jammies or in a book he says- skis? and if you ask if he skis he says yeah!

I am pretty sure that I have the coolest kid EVER. (As you can see- Pete is pretty sure that he has the coolest grandpa EVER).

The end of our PINK week

Peter is on the move- his latest thing is to take piles of things and move them from one place to another... The train pieces started on the futon in a pile that you can see and were moved to the frog...

to the basket which got carried into another room...

to their final destination to be driven around. Right now, he is sitting with his bus, emptying it out and hooking up all of the train cars together. He has a purpose and a plan with everyhting that he does and carries it out!
Emelia is getting stronger and is starting to look around more and more on her tummy. She loves to watch Petey play and was smiling at him yesterday as he showed her all of his toys.
We also had to get a new swing as our old one bit the dust- maybe from an almost 2 year old crawling in it? I guess I"ll never know but that's my best guess! Anyways, it is lots nicer than our old one and emi just loves swinging and hangs out there while I work and keeps an eye on me and everyone else!

Our little stringbean in her new soft swing.
Oh and as you can tell I did work hard this week to keep her in pink. I think that the little hat and sleeper is one of my favorites and the moccasins were $1 at Target this week. I just could not pass them up!

And since I've finished this- the train has moved from the floor by me, to the coffee table and is now back to the futon where we started the game. :)

Almost 3 months old

Emi, you are almost 3 months old~ you do so many sweet little things- it is no wonder that we call you our Minnie Mouse- maybe someday we'll take you to meet her! You are still super long and skinny. You are a little wiggler- I leave you in one place and come back and you turned around, gotten stuck under something or have tipped on your side. You love time under the baby gym you kick and wave your arms and get the toys a-movin all over. I think that it is also  your favorite becuase it is usually in front of the heater vent- but that's just a guess. You suck your thumb all of the time but still do like your binky on occasion as well. You are a lot like your brother in that you are easy going and like your daily schedule. You are sleeping up to 9 hours at night and then I usually wake you up.
My favorite time of the day with you is right after you eat around 8:00 at night. You are so awake and alert. You sit and talk to me for an hour usually smiling, cooing and jumping. We are about ready to get the exersaucer out for you to jump in as you can almost support all of your weight on your legs if we prop you up. You also have been to a number of parties and have help your own there as the only girl- we are going to have to watch out Petey's friends as you grow up- but I know that you will hold your own just fine! We are lucky that we have a lot of girl friends to have playdates with these days- you usually just sleep through them but that's okay- it will be fun soon enough.
It has been so much fun to see you change and grow- I can't believe how fast the past 3 months have gone Emelia- you are just the sweetest little girl in the whole world! We love you!

A week of PINK

I am going to try and post a picture each day this week (or from each day this week) of Emi wearing pink or Girly clothes as I've gotten some comments that she seems to wear a lot of handmedowns. She does, BUT she does have a lot of CUTE clothes too!
So happy to look like a girl!!

This was the best of about 10 that I tried.

Sleep at our house

I am mainly writing this so I don't forget and can remember where we were at at this point of our life and becuase it is interesting to me how it has worked out so similarly for the two kiddos.

Here's how our sleep breaks down daily:

Emelia usually gets up around 7am, she nurses and then hangs out while Pete gets up about 20 minutes later. She is still (at about 12 weeks) taking a very small early morning nap- sometimes it is a long one and sometimes she skips it altogether- around 9-10ish. She eats then again at 10:30 and by 12:15 is out until 2. She usually doesn't wake up crying, but just hangs out in her crib and talks until I get her at 2ish. Pete on the other hand comes home from Maxwell most days at 12 and then plays for an hour and goes down for his nap from 1-3ish. We usually read a book or two and then its lights out- na-nigh- blow a kiss. I know that he usually moves around and sometimes tries a jailbreak but if he does escape he is put away again and does a good job of staying put.
The scene at our house at 2 o'clock today.

Emi sleeps for another short nap (hourish) at 4-5 and then eats and then is up until 7ish. Which is the second hour of the day that both kids are in bed! Pete goes to bed at 7 or 7:30 most days and is ready by then. He gets a bath most nights and then nighttime diaper, brush teeth and then we read 2 or 3 books usually. Lots of kisses and then na-nigh- blows a kiss and the lights are out. He  is still just on a matress on the floor but I think that he is about ready to get the full bed since he hasn't fallen out for a while that I know about at least.

See- told you he moves around- not how I left him but it works!
My favorite story about him is the time that he was up there crying and calling for us and we were letting him be. Garrick I think even asked if he should check on him and I said- nope- he's fine. Then when I went to bed, I checked on him like I always do and BAM opened the door right into the poor little munch sleeping on the floor in front of the door. We laughed until I almost peed my pants. Seriously.

Okay- to finish off our day- Emi gets up at 8ish, eats and then gets her special one-on-one time with Momma and dad. This is when she shines with lots of coos, smiles and talking. She knows what times she has to make the most of it! Then she eats right now around 10 for the last time and is off to bed until 7 the next day. She's been doing this for about 3 weeks. I think that there was one or two days that she was babbling, squawking and crying a little but that was after there were a few days that I tried to feed her at night and she wasn't intertested. Most of the ideas that I follow are out of the book Babywise which I think works great. It is funny to see what people say about it- either they LOVE it or HATE it.

All about Emi

She is starting to smile and will spend an hour or so at night after Pete goes to bed smiling, cooing and chirping at me. I just love it!
She just went to her 11 week check up (2month that I scheduled WAY late) and here are her stats: 9 pound 12 ounces- this is after she didn't poop for 2 days- that  night I bet that she lost 8 ounces!- (10%) and she is 23 inches long (75%). Wonder who she looks like? But she is still small enough to fit into all sorts of sweet places- like the laundry basket of diaper laundry (clean!).
She takes naps in all sorts of nice places- in the sun on the couch- with the cat, on my chest at night and in her crib where I usually find her sucking her thumb when I get her up! She doesn't get swaddled at night any more so that she can find her thumb. She has been sleeping through the night for 2 or more weeks now and is pretty good at it!
She also has a lot of girlfriends! This is her and Tessa. Tessa is 3 weeks younger than Emi but is a little larger! Emelia is longer though. She also has her friend Claire that is a month yougner and then twin friends that were born today- Claire (again!) and Hannah. We visited them this morning and they are oh so tiny but are doing well!
