A good good weekend

This week we have had a lot of fun- it is amazing what nice weather and not being sick will do for you. I have also tried to take a lot more pictures since there was a little bit of a drought and I have cute kids. So here is our weekend in pictures!! Enjoy!

Nothing better than an empty laundry basket- about a week's worth of diapers had just been done and this was the alternative to Petey plowing through my nice organized piles.

Maybe the only thing that is better is a good hour of choo-choo trains with the 'big track' that grpa dnn made pete for his birthday. We don't drag it out all of the time but when it is out it is a significant event. We like to track the battery powered trains and run them on it and stand over the track to let it go 'under'-- by we I mean Pete.

Our friends had a "dirty 30" party out at Whitewater State Park in honor of all of the old men and ladies changing centuries this year- lots of kids, fires, food and fun!!

We have been going down to the river and playing under the interstate bridge a lot... this sounds lame but it is a big green space for Pete and Scout to run, and run, and run and run... Everyone that walks past just laughs and says that I sure have my hands full but everyone comes home exhausted. Pete started out just running up and down the hills but has also learned how to log-roll down them and thinks that is pretty amazing.Scout just likes it since I bring the chuck-it, a rubber ball and a pocket of treats- I actually bring 2 pockets of treats-- one for Scooter and one for Peter to get him back into the stroller when it is time to leave... is that wrong?

We also went to the Children's Museum again- we are trying to make the most of our membership- Emi spends the whole time snuggled in and enjoys herself thoroughally and Pete has been trying out some of the different exhibits- branching out from the train table- this time significant time was spent at the pin board- BOTH ends of the pins are covered in plastic and he didn't mind me smushing his face into it!!

Occassionally when Pete and I are driving/walking around town we see a tractor, a big truck or a train and we stop to look and climb on it- and sometimes as a bonus I have my camera- BIIGGG tracor- YEAH? is when he is saying in this picture.

We have also realized that Emi is starting to get bigger and bigger and have both tried to spend a little extra time at night or when Petey is sleeping or away snuggling with her before she gets to be too big. Love that girl.

Spring is Coming...

Last weekend we went to Ga-ga's and Grpa Dnn's for the weekend while Garrick refinished our staircase- I feel like I always end up with the better end of the deal- and the first day that we were there it was beaUtIful outside! The snow was even melting deep in the forest where they live and their 3 foot tall snowbanks were starting to turn into- what could be better?- PUDDLES.
So we spent most of the afternoon outside splashing, rolling and scooting through the mud and water. The biggest decision I'm pretty sure was which one to go to next!

playing at our house

Both kids are growing and changing this week- we also are all sick with bad colds... Emi is starting to laugh and to aniticipate what you are going to do and laugh becuase of that as well. Pete is learning to 'play pretend' and loves his cars, trucks, trains and the frog which is usually full of cars.

Big Brother/Little Sis

This morning I got Emu up and dressed in her little sister shirt and thought- today is the day that I am going to get 1 nice picture of the kids together in their matching shirts...
I hope that this isn't an indication of how they are going to get along when they get older...
After many tries, lots of bribes, trains and repositioning both kids... this was the best shot.

Not great, but at least Pete doesn't look like he is about to throw Emelia off of the chair, no one is crying and Peter is smiling. Sibling love... its a beautiful thing.

Daddy- the horse

Just a little followup to to the last post about taking the Chariot out. The best part about it is that when Garrick is pulling 2 kids and a stroller I am **possibly** faster or at least the same speed that he is!!

Splish Splash

We have been swimming at the Y more this winter as well. Petey just loves everything about it- the water is nice and warm, there are lots of kids to watch and a wall to jump off of!

I Found Love Jingle

Pete's on Spring Break this week... that means he is home with me all day- sometimes he plays and I work, sometimes I play and he plays and sometimes he gets to come up on my lap and help me work and then we watch fun youtube videos. We watch trucks, tractors, trains and yogabbagabba. This is one of my very favorites that they have up adn we usually end with this! Enjoy- I hope that Petey can be that sweet to his special someone in about 16 years!!

We did it!!

We finally got the kids out for a ride in the chariot in the snow on skis! Garrick had been asking me from the time before Emi was born about when we could and I said once she is pushing herself up on her arms and starting to roll over we can go- well she has rolled over a number of times and can push herself up on her arms and even tucks her knees underneath as well- she is strong enough!
Like usual, Emelia slept through the whole ride and Pete said MOre more more for all of the downhills- skiing is way for exciting than running!
We also have been out on more walks since it is getting warmer and are pretty creative with the setups- this is one of my favs.

Monkey see, monkey do...

Playtime at our house is always fun- Emelia is getting such a kick out of watch Peter play and he is getting into trying to make her laugh at him. He walks up to her and says "hi, hi hi emi..." It is probably exactly what I do to her- he also says- bubububub to her which I also do. Monkey see, monkey do!

Garrick skied the Birkie last weekend and did pretty well! It would have been fun to go up to watch, but without a place to stay and a guarentee of warm weather we decided to head south instead to Dinn's and Ga-ga's house (Pete has moved onto calling my dad - Dan- or Dinnn) for a weekend of playing and skiing. Pete loved it again and the next day was equally as fun since we got a visit from our cousins Jack and Thomas! I of course took very few pictures but I did take a video of the boys playing that I will try to put up later on.
The kids also had their 2 year and 4 month appointments this week. Emelia is 10 1/2 pounds (5%) and 24.5 inches (75%) and Pete is 24.5 pounds (5%). Both are doing just fine and following their growth curves just about perfectly!
