Thankful for...

This weekend we were thankful for a lot of things...

Friends that come from a long way away to visit, play games, teach us how to jump off the couch into a pile of pillows, read books, eat pizza and laugh with.

New red boots(maybe not the pink hat)

 Cousins
Cousins that play the piano and trains

Learning to play in the snow! (this last about 4 minutes- then he just wanted to ride on my lap or walk around crunching the snow)

Choo-choo trains- specifically the ones that we see daily at our house, but also the ones at Choo-choo Bob's Train store. We are pretty confident that this was one of the best mornings of Petey's life. There were trains to watch and trains to play with. A lot of time was spent running around with 50 other 2-5 year olds.

Our sweet little family.

4 weeks, a haircut, a playdate and a train...

4 weeks old already! She is sleeping 5 hours at a time at night, has taken a few bottles and is getting better at holding her head up. When she is in her bouncy chair she is watching the aminals that dangle and is very good at letting us know when she doesn't like where we leave her.

I finally gave up on cutting Pete's hair myself. I was getting tired of him looking like a little Amish kid so we went to the professionals. She did a really good job and I am tempted to try it again after seeing what she did... We'll see! Petey sat on my lap and had a sucker and didn't cry at all!
Emi and I went to our first playdate! We got to hang out with our friend Jenny and Tessa for the first of many days! Tessa is 1 week old and makes Emi look big! Jenny and I ran together in college- we were saying that it is crazy that 10 years ago we didn't think we'd be hanging out like this.
So we were walking down by the river, playing fetch wtih Scout, and Pete's face just lit up!

choo choo train!! They normally aren't down there but today was our lucky day!

Steppin Out

We got to the pool this week- don't worry- Emi didn't swim- not this time at least! But Petey had the best time ever swimming! He loves to kick, splash, just off of the edge, float- just about anything- you name it and he's game- he even doesn't mind getting dunked. I wouldn't say it is his favorite but he doens't cry.
Emi and I sat on the edge and watched- well I did, she slept!
We also went to Holzinger's for a hike and found some really big leaves!!

 2.5 week bear picture!
One of the reasons that I wanted a girl- to stick big flowers on her head while she is still defenseless!

Halloween 2010

I feel really behind so here is a little mish-mash of our past week- a newborn, the stomach flu (x2) and Garrick going to Iowa for a day for work doesn't lead to a clean house or an updated blog- I am working really hard today to get both completed. (The 6 loads of laundry are the next thing on my list)
What do you get when you have a chicken, a cow and a lamb all under your control? One tired farmer! Kim got Pete his costume- same as she did last year- LAST YEAR- we hadn't even started to talk about owning chickens at this point- but it was pretty funny that it ended up that way.
Mike carved pumpkins for the kids!!  and Garrick and I did ours as usual too!
 All of the neighborhood kids!!
Petey loved trick-or-treating! He would say BOO or make his chicken squawk at each house, hold out his bucket and then go thump, thumping down the sidewalk. I think that we hit up 7 houses (2 or 3 of them twice) and his bucket was FULL- our neighborhood ROCKS- that's all I have to say about that! (Garrick and I appreciate the copious amounts of candy- for all Pete knows, they were putting rocks in in pail)
Pete is getting so much more gentle with his sissy- he loves to lay next to her on the floor, give her kisses and pat her head- I still jump up to supervise, but I am so proud of him and how fast he is learning!
One of our first walks of many down by the river- Scout is rolling in a dead duck or eating fast food wrappers in the background most likely! Pete is getting used to sharing a stroller with Emi, he isn't hitting her or pulling on her all of the time- as long as he gets the big blanket and she gets a little one!

And a little baby butt to brighten your afternoon!
