Fergueson's Apples

We took a trip out to the orchard with some of our friends on a Monday afternoon. It was the perfect day for it- not TOO cold but nice and sunny with a  crisp fall breeze. It is out in Wisconsin in the rolling hills and they have an amazing set up. A "race track" for pedal tractors.
Two HUGE teepees that are connected by this tunnel. I am pretty sure that Peter made the trip back and forth at least 50 times.
A "tilt a whirl" that he thought was the best thing ever- my stomach called it quits after about 5 minutes. Pete and Finn would have spun me for hours I think.

Lots of different kids of pumpkins and gourds.

AND what a sweet little apple for sale! I'll take 2!!

Pete Mountain Biking

pete biking at holzinger lodge from garrick holey on Vimeo.

This has been a video overload this week, but once I get on a roll...
Peter has been all about his bike for the last 8 months- he especially loves going to Holzingers and biking over the logs and down the hills! This was from last fall when he was two and a half.

Will someone please take this kid to Disney World?

Kimberly????

GRB state park

One of our favorite parks to go to nearby is Great Rivier Bluffs. It is a great place for Peter to go to as well because most of the hikes are a little flatter or shorter so he can walk or bike the entire way. Garrick's family came to visit this weekend- by family we mean Greg and Linka and Bill and Jean- and we went up for a hike at the park and come home for lunch, a few presents for Em's birthday and then played outside until PAST naptime.
Peter got a new bike- we found it used at a garage sale- his old bike's axels had bent and he got a flat tire as well- if you ask him about it he'll tell you that he has two bikes!
The whole group at a beautiful overlook! We came here one time with my dad and it was SO foggy and overcast that you couldn't see ANYTHING down below- here's what it looks like dad!

Upriver:

And then just a shot of the sweetest baby EVER.

Fire Safety Week!

It is fire safety week this week and that means that the fire station had their open house the other night. All of the fire fighters were there and were so super friendly to the kids- letting them in the truck, try on hats and boots and showing them all over the fire house.

They also had their 100 foot tall ladder truck out and working that day- with a friend of our climbing up and down the ladder- Peter did ask if he could do it... maybe next year buddy! The other thing he wanted to do was use the firepoles that were all over the station- the guys were going down them all night- it was super fun to watch!!

We did get to sit in the trucks and pretend to drive though!
Peter loved meeting Sparky or "Nero" -- from the Clifford books-- as we called him! Emelia... not so much, she just stared at him and gave him the stinkeye the entire time we were nearby!
Peter got his own fire hat- see below-- and got to try on a real fireman's hat.
Practice using a fire extinguisher- a skill all 2 year olds need!
And finally just getting to see the BIG trucks.

sneak peek

Time for a bath

Last week we were playing down by the lake at my parent's house, it was starting to get dark and colder but Pete kept splashing in the water and throwing toys in the lake. Finally he threw one far enough that my dad had to get into a boat to grab it- Payton and Pete both slithered their way into the boat and Pete was leaning WAY over the edge playing in the water...

PLOP! I'm sure you guessed it already. Hearing him tell the story is even funnier, "I playing in the ought-ter and fell in... grapdan GOT me!" He thought it was both funny and scary- The muck in his hair was just the beginning of it... .

Emi had to have a bath while we were there too- their bathroom is under construction so the sink had to work for her!

Weekend away from home

We got insulation blown into our house yesterday, so over the weekend Garrick was doing a lot of prep work- pulling off siding mainly so that they guys could get the job done quickly. That means of course, that we got out of town and went to my parent's house. We finally got Emi to Devil's Lake, we took a little hike up to the top of the bluff- which Peter did nearly all of on his own, had a picnic lunch and looked for minnows in the lake.
Afterwards, mom and I stopped at Ski-HI apple orchard with the kids to look around, get some apples, juice and treats.
We also worked on our biking, picture taking and sharing skills all at the same time!
