Triathlon

We did our second triathlon of the summer this weekend! Garrick of course had to sit out- just a few more weeks of taking it easy- we can't wait!! So, it was just dad and me.

Pete was pretty funny, he has started to become a little attached to me- when he saw me come out of the water and run away from him I could even hear him yelling for me over the crowd- poor kid, hopefully he doesn't get a complex from these experiences!!
And how did I do? Not great, but not too bad either for being almost 6 months pregnant! My swim wasn't too great, but my bike and run were as good as I could have asked for. I haven't done this race for a while- I was newly preggo with Petey 2 years ago and feeling bad so I skipped it and then last year we were just getting back from Colorado so I don't have much to compare it to, but it was a lot of fun to do it!

While we were out running and biking, the wind picked up and when we cooled off afterwards there were whitecaps in the lake! I am sure glad that we weren't swimming in that! But Pete sure liked it! What a brave little boy!

Lounging on the beach

We went out on the river with the McCleads this week and pete just couldn't get enough of laying on the towel and getting some sun. I predict that this is going to be his pose in about 15 years on a sandbar. (Also note that you can see his 6-pack Abs... Can babies have a 6 pack?)
There aren't many places that are as nice as the river in Winona... we do appreciate where we live!!!

Pete got his first substantial haircut in the tub tonight. He has been mistaken for a girl 5 or 6 times in the last week and it was getting to be time since i couldn't see his eyes.

This is what he looked like a few weeks ago- I should have taken a before picture, but didn't of course!!

And here we are afterwards!

Camping in IOWA

This is what we thought about our big trip!!
Pete had a lot of fun exploring the campsite, the tent and the park! He was just the best little camper that we could have asked for.
Not quite the same as his famous cherry box picture... but still really really sweet! We were at the table playing cards while he was sleeping, or we thought he was... and we started to hear him singing to himself, mmm,,,hhhh,,,hhmmm,,mmmmm in the tent. It was so funny!!
We climbed to the highest point in Iowa- not such a big feat, but we still had fun! Pete liked climbing on the rocks on the way back too.

All dried off after swimming- he loves this- getting wrapped up in a towel and snuggling for a minute- he always makes that little face too.

Where to next??

Last weekend there were a lot of rainy days in a row- combine that with a tired preggo and then a guy with a hand that can't do a lot... we came up with a few good plans though!!

We went to Lark Toys in Wabasha and rode the carousel

It is so cool- every animal is different, there is a boar, unicorn *what Garrick is riding*, chicken, goldfish, you name it- someday Pete is really going to get how cool that part of the toy store is.

We met some friends- mike and julie there and played for a long time making funny faces.

and Pete knew JUST what to do with the train set thanks to his training with Jackson and Captain.

After a morning of rain and nasty weather, the sun came out and we went to Oscar's 1st birthday party!! They set up a kiddie sized one-year-old's dream waterpark in the backyard. It was the perfect day and they had the best time ever running around. Pete is disappointed that he has a winter birthday- we have already started to brainstorm about what we can do for his birthday.

All of the boys got a cupcake with candles for their ages. I think that Oliver and Pete look like they could be brothers!!

Garrick and I also went to the grand opening of the new Winona Historical Society. Besides a few kids that along with their parents, I think that we were the youngest by 10 years. It was still super fun to walk around the new building which is beautiful and to see the exhibits and learn a little about the history of Winona.
The reason that we got to go is that Garrick built that window at work so he is now has 3 windows up in Winona that he built/installed (SMU, the cathedral, and historical society.)

We are going camping this week in IOWA. Stay tuned in for more fun and games!

Madison to meet a special boy

Pete and I made a trip to Madison this week.
We went to a fun park and played with Jackson going up and down the steps, down the slides and across the bridges.

We also went to lunch at Ella's Deli- this was Petey's reaction as soon as we sat down.
He was excited to see they also love bahk-balls
This is a view of the whole place.
Jacks also liked to see everything moving and turning. They were wide-eyed the entire time that we were there. Mom said that we only went there a few times when I was a kid, but I remember each time really well and specific things about the times we were there. What a fun place!!

Oh yeah, there is a REAL reason that we were there too- not just to party with Jackson! I got to meet 4 day old baby Thomas- he is such a little sweetie, sleeping a lot, eating really well and even waking up a little to show his eyes to us. You gotta love those baby cheeks!! A BIG congratulations to Matt, Lara and big brother Jackson!!!!!!

Pool Party!!!

So my favorite thing to do is to play outside and I said, Hey mom, we have all of these chips, maybe we should have a party! She of course agreed and the fun started!!

I was having so much fun that time just flew by...

I played for a while and then everyone started to show up!

Finn came with his mom and shared his snacks with me which was really nice, but I was starting to get tired.

Then Oscar came over too! He really really loved playing in the water and going down the slide- We all had a lot of fun playing but eventually everyone had to go home since it was time for dinner, which was a really good thing actually- I was starving!! I don't know if you can tell but I am growing and need to eat a lot especially since I am so busy. If you are in Winona, stop by and take a splash with me- I promise that we will have a great time!!
