Peter and I took Scout to the vet today and then of course since Scout was such a good dog we went to Farmer's Park to run in the grass that has grown back and to play in the creek. This is such a beautiful park, I have a feeling that we will be coming here a lot this summer.

We took Peter up to see the river today. He loved looking around and seeing the river, cars below us the trees blowing in the wind. I couldn't help but to think about how big this all must look to him and if he understands. I thought that he looked just like a little mountaineer in this picture on top of Mt. Everest.
We also spent a lot of time outside in the backyard working on the gardens. I want to edge both of them out this spring- the flower garden with rocks and the vegetable in bricks- The grass always creeps in and I have a hard time keeping up with it- It will look so nice when we are done but it is so much work right now!
Peter helped by supervising, pushing his hippo through the grass, throwing the ball for Scout and eating dirt.
I also thought I'd show you my new office- when it is nice out- petey swings, I work and Scout sunbathes. Not a bad life!

Playground and Pools
Since it has gotten nice out this week we have been taking daily walks to the playground to climb on the stairs and go down the slides. Petey isn't as sure about the big slide as he is about the little one at home, but he still laughs when he goes down.
Hanging out in the tower.
He also has started to really like going swimming- I admit it- he wasn't into it before but he didn't hate it either! Now he laughs, splashes, puts his face in the water and loves to "jump" off of the wall.
He also demonstrated that he still floats! I think that his little belly looks so funny in this picture- it is all puffed up and full of air- usually he doesn't have one at all! What a little monkey.
The tulips are coming up, the seeds have been started for my garden and I have sunflowers that are 1 foot tall and are ready to be transplanted when it gets warm! I love spring.

One year...
Means lots of things... First off, we went to his one year check up...
Here are the stats.
18 pounds 12 ounces- 0-3 %
30 inches 50%
He's doing everything and anythign though that a one year old would do- she wasn't worried. We also had lead levels checked since we live in an old house and Garrick works with it all day- they were perfect. He's just a VERY busy little boy.
In honor of that and him being with me all day, he wanted to share HIS favorite things to do...

Play in the potted plants and eat the dirt
Unroll the toilet paper
Free his lovies out of his crib and the carry them around until they get taken away- "those are for sleeping"
Play in Scout's water dish and dump in out on the floor
Get a better look outside by climbing up onto his rocking chair.
Petey's day would not be complete without doing most of these activities at least once- usually more than that! He also LOVES to read pop up books- he just needs a little help becuase he gets a little carried away on his own. We have a few and spend lots of time reading and re-reading and re-re-reading them-

2 funny stories- which is better?
Week 2 of Garrick being gone... we are surviving but cannot wait until he gets back! He should be back this weekend or early next week. We went to my parent's house this weekend and Petey played and I relaxed. Grandan and Mooze had so much fun with the little Munch.
Funny story: We were out snowshoeing and Pete was in the backpack. He pulls his gloves off all of the time and mom found one at one point. We got to a turning point and oops now he's missing the other one. She turns back to find it and dad and I were going to go forward. After about a minute, Payton came trotting up to her with the glove in her mouth- I wish I was making this up, but I"M NOT! What a genius! I don't have a picture of it, but I assure you this is a true story.
Funny story 2: Pete has this "puzzle" that has little doors that open and close and it has magnetic animals inside. I usually supervise this playtime b/c a. the pieces are little and he *could* swallow them b. the pieces are little and he likes to carry them around and I don't want them lost... this is more so the reason. Well he was playing with it on his own and 2 of the pieces were missing- the cow and the cat. I was telling my mom this on the phone and how it is ruined etc... Pete comes up with it in his hand, covered in dust bunnies and sawdust- I have no idea where he was or where the piece was, but he found it! What a genius! I also do not have a picture of this, but I assure you this is a true story. I think that he had heard so much about the dog genius that he wanted to be the baby genius. :)
My job continues to get better, I am getting to know some of the students, am getting responses from some of the students that I was pretty sure were dead and am learning how to maximize the time I work so that when Petey is home and awake I can play with him instead.
Things Pete can currently do: go up and down stairs, play on his slide, put shapes into a shape sorter (with lots of help), say (with a lot of imagination) mama, ball, and barks at dogs. He also LOVES to play in the potted plants in our house and dump the dirt on the floor and eat it.
(Petey fell asleep in the sun this morning like this- I seriously think he is the sweetest thing)
